During his expansive career, Ristomatti Ratia (1941-) has designed almost everything, from clothing to jewellery and pots to coffins. One of his iconic works of modern design is the modular shelving unit from the Palaset collection made of polystyrene plastic. This material has a wide range of uses, since it can be sawn and nailed similar to wooden sheeting. The original colours of the shelves were white, brown, red, green and yellow.
